Wetenschap/Mens: CBD kan enige werkzaamheid vertonen bij kinderen met autisme spectrum stoornis volgens een gecontroleerde studie

In een placebogecontroleerde studie met 60 kinderen, in de leeftijd van 5 tot 11 jaar, was CBD in staat om 1 van de diagnostische criteria van autisme spectrum stoornis (ASS) te verbeteren. De studie werd uitgevoerd aan het departement Psychologie van de Federale Universiteit van Paraíba João Pessoa, Brazilië. De deelnemers werden verdeeld in 2 groepen, de behandelingsgroep, die het CBD-rijke cannabisextract kreeg, en de controlegroep, die de placebo kreeg, gebruikten beiden het product gedurende een periode van 12 weken.

Er werden significante resultaten gevonden voor sociale interactie, angst, psychomotorische agitatie, concentratie en het aantal maaltijden. Auteurs concludeerden dat “CBD-rijk cannabisextract één van de diagnostische criteria voor ASS (sociale interactie) bleek te verbeteren, evenals vaak co-existente kenmerken, en weinig ernstige bijwerkingen bleek te hebben.”

Science/Human: CBD may show some efficacy in children with autism spectrum disorder according to a controlled study

In a placebo-controlled study with 60 children, aged between 5 and 11 years, CBD was able to improve 1 of the diagnostic criteria of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The study was conducted at the Department of Psychology of the Federal University of Paraíba João Pessoa, Brazil. Participants were divided into 2 groups, the treatment group, which received the CBD-rich cannabis extract, and the control group, which received the placebo, both used the product for a period of 12 weeks.

Significant results were found for social interaction, anxiety, psychomotor agitation, concentration and number of meals. Authors concluded that “CBD-rich cannabis extract was found to improve one of the diagnostic criteria for ASD (social interaction), as well as often co-existing features, and to have few serious adverse effects.”
